MAPLe HD EMG Assessment & Biofeedback
Understanding your pelvic floor before deciding how to treat it.
The pelvic floor plays an important role in bladder control, bowel function, sexual function and comfort. Like any muscle group, it can become weak, overactive, poorly coordinated or simply fail to work efficiently.
MAPLe provides detailed information about the activity of different regions of your pelvic floor, helping identify which muscles may be contributing to your symptoms and where the greatest opportunities for improvement exist.
Unlike many assessment tools, MAPLe can also become part of treatment, through targeted biofeedback and electrical stimulation.

Each treatment plays a different role. Highlighted below are the systems this one focuses on.
Not every pelvic floor problem is caused by weakness.
Some muscles work too hard. Some activate at the wrong time. Some fail to relax. Others simply don’t coordinate with breathing, movement and the rest of your body.
Without understanding how your pelvic floor is functioning, it’s difficult to know which rehabilitation approach is most appropriate. MAPLe helps us make more informed decisions and, where appropriate, provide highly targeted rehabilitation.
Our goal isn’t simply to collect information. It’s to use that information to guide better rehabilitation.
What it helps optimise
Who may benefit
Not everyone will benefit, which is why assessment always comes first.
MAPLe uses a specialised probe containing multiple sensors that measure muscle activity from different regions of the pelvic floor.
During assessment you perform gentle contractions and relaxation tasks while the system records how different muscles are functioning, displayed in real time.
Where appropriate, the same system can deliver targeted electrical stimulation to specific regions: to activate underactive muscles, improve motor control, or encourage relaxation.

Our treatments don’t compete with each other. They complement each other.
This treatment is rarely the entire solution. Depending on your assessment, your personalised programme may also include:
Every recommendation begins with understanding.
You don’t need to know whether this is the right treatment for you. You simply need to know you’d like something to change. Together we’ll identify what’s holding you back and build a personalised pathway forward.
